During your contact lens fitting at Clear Vision Eyecare, Dr. Koutoulas will guide you through the process, explaining each step in detail and answering any questions you have.

Step 1: Comprehensive Eye Exam

During your eye exam, Dr. Koutoulas tests your eye health and determines your prescription.

Step 2: Contact Lens Selection

After the eye exam, Dr. Koutoulas helps you select the type of contact lenses that best meets your needs. At Clear Vision Eyecare, we offer a wide range of contact lenses, including:

• Soft lenses: multifocal and single vision.

• Rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses.

• Scleral lenses: dry eye scleral lenses, medically necessary scleral lenses.

Step 3: Take Measurements

Next, Dr. Koutoulas takes a series of measurements to ensure that your contact lenses fit properly. 

He uses a special instrument called a keratometer to measure the curvature of your cornea (the front surface of the eye). In some cases, Dr. Koutoulas measures the cornea in greater detail with a topographer. This maps the surface of your eye, sort of like a 3D map.

If you are considering gas permeable contact, Dr. Koutoulas may measure the size of your pupil or your iris (the colored part of your eye) with a biomicroscope.

Lastly, he wants to make sure that you have enough of a tear film to keep the contact lenses moist and comfortable. To do this, he puts a drop of liquid dye on your eye and watches how much moisture your eyes produce. If your tear film is weak, he may recommend a contact lens that is made to maintain moisture.

These measurements ensure your contact lenses will be comfortable, reliable, and effective.

Step 4: Contact Lens Trial and Order

After deciding on a contact lens together, Dr. Koutoulas may have you try on a pair to confirm the fit and comfort. If the lenses appear to be a good fit after 15-20 minutes, we finalize your lens order.

Step 5: Contact Lens Follow-Up Appointment

Once your lenses have been ordered, we schedule a follow-up appointment.

At this appointment, Dr. Koutoulas:

• Checks in to make sure to make sure that you are comfortable with your new lenses and that they are helping you see clearly.

• Makes any necessary adjustments

• Answers your questions about caring for your lenses.

If your new contact lenses are causing any dryness or discomfort, please visit us as soon as possible. Dr. Koutoulas may suggest a different lens, a different, disinfecting solution, or a change to your wearing schedule.
